Cutting around pipework and other objects
Place the floorboard on top of the last board to be fitted, and using a T-square mark the pipe diameter on the board with two simple straight lines.
Measure the distance of the pipe from the fitted board and mark it - but remember to measure to the start of the floorboard (top surface) not the edge of the board (tongue T&G joint).
Drill holes for the pipes, ensuring that you allow for the appropriate expansion gap around the pipe, and then using the two simple straight lines saw off the piece that will be placed behind the pipes. Use PVA wood glue to glue the loose piece and place it behind the pipes, and finally cover with a wooden pipe ferrule.
