Fitting hardwood skirting / Scotia trim mouldings

Remove all expansion wedges from expansion gaps and position the skirting so that it touches the floor, but is not too tight to the floor.

If it is too tight it may prevent the floor from expanding and contracting with atmospheric changes. Scotia trim and other mouldings should always be fitted to the existing skirting or wall and never the wooden floor itself, as this will prevent natural floor movement.
