Fourth successive year of growth

Source Woodfloors has recorded a fourth successive year of growth since the business was established in early 2008.

Based in Norfolk, the woodflooring and accessory reseller is solely internet based, which has enabled the company to establish a foothold in the wood flooring market despite tough trading conditions.

Peter Lazar, managing director of Source Woodfloors, says: “The internet market for any products is highly competitive, with people able to compare prices with ease, even though they may not always be comparing like with like.

“To succeed, you have to be competitive, and have a well thought out website; quick and easy to use and backed up by high quality customer service. Customers still like to talk to a person for guidance and advice before they buy online.

“But there is more to it than that. Appearing high up the Google organic search is also critical, as is a sound pay-per-click strategy. Without these elements, it’s like having the best shop in town, but located down a back alley.”

Source Woodfloors offers a comprehensive range of solid, engineered and solid-engineered wood flooring products, along with high quality accessories from leading brands including Osmo, Sika, Bona and Blanchon, together with its own range of bespoke and off the shelf solid skirting, architrave, door liners and thresholds.

Wood flooring samples are offered free of charge and despatched the same day and the vast majority of products can be delivered next day.

Growth has averaged around 30% year on year in the four years the company has been trading, and turnover will top £1m in 2012. Sales are split approximately 50/50 between wood flooring and accessories.

Peter Lazar said: “Our overheads are low and we use this to offer highly competitive prices on high quality products. We also offer technical advice and support for trade and retail customers who need help with their wood flooring project.”

Plans under consideration for 2012 include opening an Ebay store and broadening the product offering by introducing non-wood flooring products such as high-end worktops, decking and garden buildings.
