Hardwood Floors Add Style, Value
Hardwood flooring is a popular option that adds style and value to a home. It's also great for people with allergies, because hardwood flooring doesn't trap dust, pollen or other allergens like carpet can.
There are basically two types of hardwood flooring, solid hardwood and engineered hardwood. The kind you choose depends on where you live, and where you are putting the floor. Solid hardwood is not recommended in "below-grade" environments, like basements, because humidity can cause the flooring to expand.
Engineered hardwood takes thinner pieces of hardwood and layers them on top of each other so they expand and contract very little. And before you buy, you need to add up all the costs because typically this is not a "do it yourself" project.
