Wood flooring installation methods
Real hardwood floors should be installed onto a dry, flat, sound sub floor. We recommend that solid wood floors be fitted directly to the sub floor using one of two methods:
- glued directly to the sub floor
- or 'secret nailed' at an angle into the tongue of the tongue and groove
Real engineered wood flooring is usually installed using one of the following three methods:
- glued directly onto the sub floor
- secret nailed at an angle into the tongue of the tongue and groove (20mm + boards)
- or 'floated' using a suitable underlay material and DPM sheet where necessary.
