Grease and oil residues

Penetrating stains or wax products
Place cotton soaked in Hydrogen Peroxide over the stain for several minutes. Then follow this with a second layer of cotton, but this time soak it in Ammonia. Repeat the process until the stain is 'drawn out', then let it dry and re-wax and buff as appropriate.

Lacquer or other surface finish
Use a urethane/lacquer wood flooring cleaner and for stubborn stains carefully remove with a urethane wood flooring scrub pad.
