Storage and handling

Solid wod flooring and engineered wood flooring packs are very heavy and care should always be taken when lifting them. While it is common for packs to be handled by a single warehouseman, where possible it is far easier and safer for them to be lifted by two people.

If wooden flooring is delivered into a garage or outbuilding, this should only be considered a temporary measure. Wood flooring should not be kept in damp conditions, on cement floors or outside - ideally it should be moved directly from the lorry into the room where it is being fitted.

Real wood flooring needs to acclimatise to room humidity and temperature and should be stored in the room in which it is to be installed in for one week. It should remain in its original packaging and not be stood against a wall, but laid flat to avoid warping.

The ideal conditions for installing wood flooring is relative humidity in the range of 45-60%, and temperature of around 18-20°C.

The room temperature at the time of installation should be at least +18°C and packs should only be opened once installation has commenced, not beforehand.
