Surface coatings

These include water based urethane, oil modified polyurethane, conversion varnish and moisture cured urethane.

Follow a simple cleaning routine as with any wood floor - cleaning, sweeping and vacuuming. Avoid excessive moisture contact with the floor, and wash the floor with the manufacturer's recommended wood floor cleaning product. If unsure use a pH neutral floor cleaner or if in any doubt see our faqs or contact us for advice.

Do not use oil soap cleaners, and wipe up spills immediately with a lightly dampened cloth. If a large amount of water is spilled use any cloth material to mop it immediately while it is sitting on the surface.

For stubborn stains lightly dampen a soft cloth with a cleaner and dab gently onto the stain and repeat as necessary.

Never use any form of wax finish on a surface finish such as a lacquer or varnish as the wax will not be able to penetrate into the wood and could cause the surface to reduce its slip resistance.

If a floor begins to lose its luster then it needs to be revived or refinished. Try reviver products to clean and to revitalise the surface.
