Types of wood flooring

When it comes to wood flooring there is an abundance of choice, different species, different colour stains, textures and finishes from high gloss to a natural matt or satin hardwax oil finish.

Then on top of all of that, there are solid wood floors, strip, plank and parquet including herringbone, block and other patterns. Engineered wood floors, two strip, three strip, single plank, solidengineered or semi-solid engineered wood flooring in 2 ply, 3 ply and multiply construction. Not forgetting, of course the laminate flooring that is some sometimes confused with real wood engineered flooring products that are manufactured by a laminated construction process.

It's no wonder that the average person in the street can become confused and frustrated. In the sections to follow we will try and briefly detail each of these. If you are still unsure which type of flooring will best fit your needs then please call us and we will answer any questions that may still be unanswered.

Hardwood flooring is still the most popular type of wood flooring, but the price, maintenance and installation process means that people still look to other types of flooring which will create the wood effect, such as laminate wood flooring.
