Specific wood floor finishes

If your wood floor was finished post installation on site you should follow the specific manufacturers' instructions where applicable. In the absence of any manufacturers guidelines follow the specific guidelines in the drop down menu above for each finish type.

DO

DON'T

Dry mop the wooden floor daily with a treated dust mop Close up a hall for long periods without ventilation or heating
Use walk off mats at all doorways Use standard household cleaning products
Wipe up spills and any other excessive moisture on the floor immediately Use the clean the floor with mechanical scrubbing equipment
Remove heel marks and scuff marks with appropriate cleaner  
Inspect the wood floor for effects of shrinkage or expansion  
Remove any dirt or debris from expansion areas
