Major Types of Wood Flooring
There are three major types of solid wooden flooring
available from Source Wood Floors, solid, semi solid, and engineered. Solid wood floors can be brought in an unfinished or finished format. They use one specific wood for the whole thickness of the floor, and are normally fixed to the sub floor. Semi solid floors have a very thick layer of the chosen wood layered on top of a less expensive wood. Engineered wood floors are manufactured using a thinner top layer of real hardwood with a layered base made up from either 3 or 5 layers. This type is a very popular choice with the DIY customer, as the easy click-fit system makes installing the floor incredibly simple. At Source Wood Floors we stock both Walnut and Oak flooring, available with a variety of finishes. Walnut flooring
tends to be graded as mixed grade, as knots are not as large and frequent as with oak.
