Wood Flooring And Underfloor Heating
The inherent natural warm quality of wood makes it the ideal companion to underfloor heating systems. Both our solid wood floor and engineered wood flooring products work brilliantly with underfloor heating, and here’s why!
Engineered Wood Floors One of the top qualities of engineered wood is that it can be precision manufactured to highly tailored specifications, including a heat boosting. During the months you use your underfloor heating, the natural wood layer of engineered wood will contract a little in response to the drier air in the home (due to heating) Our products are engineered to respond positively, minimising the effect of dry air and making our precision products the perfect complement to eco friendly underfloor heating.
Solid Wood Floors Solid wood with a low moisture content tends to fare best when partnered with underfloor heating. This is due to the innate natural state of the wood already being quite dry, meaning seasonal expanding and contracting is minimised. We recommend using a maximum thickness of 125mm when laying a wood floor to be used over the top of underfloor heating. Underfloor heating is tipped to be the future of home heating, so we keep our ear to the ground in terms of industry news and product development in both our own sector and that of sustainable housing materials and processes.
