Eat Your Food In Style…

>Irrespective of whether your kitchen is traditional or modern in style, you’re sure to be able to find a wood worktop or breakfast bar to suit. Real wood is perennially popular, and with good reason – it looks beautiful, is eco-friendly and feels good. There are also a number of wood variants to pick from, each offering their own colour and hue, but remember that you will need to maintain a wooden worktop with regular oiling, and it won’t be 100% resistant to all stains. Laminates will tend to  be affordable and hard-wearing, and they also benefit from coming in a wide range of colours and patterns.

If you’re working to a budget, like to change your design regularly, or are choosing a high-fashion option that’s likely to date relatively quickly, this could be the material for you. So when it comes to fitting your wood breakfast bar or worktop, if you’re planning a DIY installation you can either order your product pre-oiled or you can oil it before you fit it.

Either way, it’s essential to make sure that every surface of your worktop is well oiled before fitting, even the edges.  This will ensure that your worktop resists any spills and wear and tear, helping it to stay looking good for longer.  When it comes to ongoing maintenance, you should aim to oil your worktop every three months or so to make sure it stays in tip-top condition.
