Posted in Wood Flooring by Source on April 19th 2011
Parquet flooring has several advantages it can be cleaned easily and has durability against spills and stains. It has environmental advantages over carpeting and synthetic based floor systems. It is easy to maintain. If the flooring begins to show signs of damage, the outside can be renewed by applying light sanding and re-sealing using varnish.

Parquet flooring has been used regularly in the past for creating patterns on furniture and for flooring.  Parquet flooring are very stable and hard wearing as the pieces are so small that the movement is kept to a minimum.  Fitting a parquet flooring is almost as quick as laying a normal floor, and can eliminate the hassle of having to sand the floor and create dust in the property.  Solid parquet comes unbelieved and unfinished due to the requirement of sanding once laid.

Parquet flooring are Available in Various Sizes.

The most popular pattern is the herringbone, which consists of the pieces laid 90 degrees to each other.  Basket weave pattern is also popular.  Parquet tiles have very intricate and individual patterns to create a fantastic patterned flooring – these tiles are available unfinished or prefinished and create more interesting patterns for the floor. Mosaic parquet, parquet flooring made up of small solid  pieces of woods (slats) assembled in units.

And another  popular style of parquet tiles is the Versailles pattern, used originally in France to go over the stone flooring.
